Definitely has roads, lots of them. Full of cars. Well as full as that forsaken bit of the Netherlands gets. Lucky them.

Pompeii has some very wide 'roads' (they'd be a bit bumpy due to all the open sewers though!)

We're back to the matter of definition of "roads"!
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

Also, what is the definition of "European"?

Play in European World Cup Qualifying Groups?

Enter the Eurovision Song Contest?

My youngest son, his partner and her parents go greenroading in the Uk.
They go in a mk 1 Range Rover and a couple of old Landrovers.

Son and partener use the Range Rover as their normal vehicle - thankfully it runs on LPG.

Middle son used one of the old Landrovers as his wedding car.

Green laning I think rather than roading - I couldn't have seen these shots on a 4x4 web site could I? They seem vaguely familiar.

Sorry yes I meant greenlaning.

As far as I know they are not on any other site - if they are then they have been pinched.

Ask a Landrover driver
Ok, you ready for this !

Its best with a LandRover 90 Defender or Discovery. Either one as the Defender 90 has a 90 inch wheelbase and the Discovery has a 100 inch wheel base. Both Landies have permenant 4 wheel drive and run on a set of axles and therefore it allows axle articulation that can keep wheels on the ground when the terrain gets very uneven, Add to that a transfer box that seriously slows the gearbox down and makes the landie crawl along. The main purpose of the transfer box though is to limit power to wheel that have no grip (i.e. in the air) and to transfer the power then to wheel that have traction and are in contact with the ground.

To aid the Land Rover design many owners also increase its 'get anywhere' design by:

Using a lift kit to raise the body further off the ground

Use dislocation cones and very fancy suspension to give extreme axle articulation. The dislocation cones mean tha when the spring comes out of the bottom recess, when it comes back into the recess the cone locates it back in place correctly

Use a snorkel to aid the wading depth capabilies

Use extended axle, engine and gearbox breathes (normally ran into snorkel)

When the suspension is lifted then larger tyres are also added to lift the lande further into the air

If you click here and scroll to the bottom you'll see some extreme axle articulation

Hope this helps
All good info, but I've never really counted Land Rovers as cars...

Cars are, generally speaking, vehicles which don't like the look of muddy fields!

Well, the answer is actually The City of London. It has no Roads.

If you don't agree, name any Road in the City of London.

I went seriously off landrovers when a Dutch lady knocked me off my bike and smashed up my knee with one. Although I can see the advantage in a muddy field, what on earth is the point of those gas guzzling monstrosities in the middle of London?

I don't understand urban 4x4s at all. It's downright cruel to keep them away from mud like that! A proper 4x4 has mud, dents, scratches, and a driver who knows what all the extra levers do.

I use my Discovery to get to places that you'd stand little chance of reaching on foot in reasonable comfort, which makes for good photography:

Kris I own a LR and have to say there is a certain secret pleasure in driving one in traffic especially with bigger tyres and a very obvious crumple zone. But I totally agree they are not an appropriate form of transport in general nor are any of these dopey 4x4 style vehicles. Matt has the right idea.

I still lust after a Land/Range Rover. In the past I've owned a Series III hard top, Defender 110 CSW, and a P38 Rangie, my favourite.

I'm ready for another one now.

I sold my Disco for sundry reasons but getting about 30 mpg was one of them and I'm not sure the more modern ones are much better. But with your 'previous' you know all about filling up 20 gallon tanks
