I use a Lastolite cable like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lastolite-Nikon-Straight-TTL-Sync-Flash-Cable-Cord-3-M... but in Pentax fitting of course. Problem is I can't find anyone listing the Pentax fit at the moment. It works well (including PTTL) and I prefer the straight lead to the curly type because you actually get the stated length rather than some theoretical 'maximum length' which is usually about double that which can be comfortably reached by the curly lead. A short curly lead is neater if the flash unit is on a bracket though.
Googling comes up with a third party 1.3m cable & connectors from Jack the Hat for £16.99 pp, only difference is no secondary hot shoe mount on the camera end. To be honest this is probably better than the Pentax set-up as it is slightly longer and 1/6th the price. One issue with the Pentax set-up is the cable connects to the right side of the adaptor, so whichever side of the camera the flash is the cable is pulled at 180 degrees from the connection at one end or the other unless you use the FG adaptor.

Edit: the cheap option is out of stock but there are probably others.

I know it's a bit late, but this little set-up works beautifully - it shows the Sync Cord F 5P (0.9 metres), Hot Shoe Adapter FG (on the camera) and the Off-Camera Adapter F.

The AF540FGZ can take the 5P cord into a socket on the side of the flash, but the AF360FGZ would need to use the Hot Shoe Adapter F. If you want to move the flash further from the camera there are 2 other cables, a 1.8 metre and a 3 metre version.

Thanks, nice to see that picture of the equipment connected

Am I right to assume that full P-TTL functions are retained when using the socket on the flash, just like with the hotshoe adaptor?

I have one of these albeit the 7Dayshop version. work as it should but the curly cable is quite stiff, the adaptors are screw together so the cable could be replaced with as straight/longer piece if desired.

Personally speaking, and having had and used the so superior Nikon Creative stuff I stick to fully manual control of both the camera and the flash heads whether its in the studio or on location, for both I use a set of these in Nikon guise.
Cheers
Brian.
LBA is good for you, a Lens a day helps you work, rest and play.

Yes - I believe the full set of functions available are the same
