not impresed

I was on the stand for approx. half an hour and did not hear one European accent or see one Japanese person among the reps. If they were at lunch (12.45 to.1.15) together then that was bad planning. They don't have to sell on the stand but they can be there to answer users (old and new) technical questions. I spoke to two young reps and they were not what you could call completely clued up. So OK they let you play with the equipment that was available but was that really enough????????????????

and i had to push to let me play with them and then i wasnt alowed to try it on my camera

at the end of the day they had products to promot and to me they was not doing that you have to sell that product so that when that person gose away they want to buy and i think a lot of people did not

there was a lot of people walking past and not even giving them a second glance

buisness is buisness and you have to grab the bull by the horns and shake it up

No matter what a manufacturer does there is always someone that will have a moan that it wasn't good enough, even Canon, their stand was three times the size of Ricoh's and Canon user's were bleating on facebook that it was rubbish!.
They can't win.

i think in fairnes to canon they did not anticipate the amount of people to assend on there stand all at once
at least they knew what the price of stuff was and not direct you somewhere else and that was show price

To me it shouldn't be about size ... Sure, a good coverage of the range is needed. But the key element to this sort of event and ' promotion' must surely be DEMONSTRATION ...!!!

Anyone can see good pictures of the products plus technical details on the website. The real added value of a show is through demonstration, and proving results. That's what I mean about the flash issue ... SHOW (that's part of the event name right ?) people what possibilities there are through the fuller DSLR system. Get them believing the the Pentax system will give the best results in the most efficient way ...

how correct you are and pentax was not doing that
i was with a canon user and not only that he sells cameras for a living
and he was not impressed
and they are the hardist people to sell to

I've never been to a show but if I went I'd be expecting this exactly.

The fact that users of other makes also complained shows that Pentax was not alone in disappointing its users.

Does this mean that manufacturers are generally inept at running shows, or are users hard to please?

Probably a bit of both, but at least Pentax is not alone.

to me the company that stood out was panasonic which had an arena set up with somthing going on in it 95%of the time all there cameras was setout round it loaded with memory cards so you could pick up the camera and take a few photo and they openly said to you play with them look at what they can doand the results
to me that is a good marketing ploy (i wont be buying one though as not a fan of mirrorless)
