Ineresting history, but I'm afraid the image doesn't really work for me iBerg. It's all a bit confusing with all those lines everywhere, and the sepia isn't really floating my boat either.
Don't feel too bad , I live near Duxford air museum which has quite a few old aircraft that look similar to this one (i.e. bicycles with wings), and in half a dozen visits I have still yet to take a single decent photo of one. They are just too spindly without any substance to them!

Your treatment lends the picture a lovely vintage feel, i-Berg, the delicate hue suits the fragile structure very well.
Best wishes,

It seems to me that the light lends an ethereal quality, entirely in keeping with a 'string and timber' flying machine. Ideally, I think it would be even better if the top right eucalyptus was cloned out, but it is still an attractively unusual image.

This is a great photo, i-berg. The composition of this subject makes for an interesting image and i'm drawn in by it. In fact, it is a very nice composition and study of this kind of subject.
I like your focus on the geometry of it and the angles of all those struts and strings, it has depth. The background is nicely abstract, too.
I can see this image up on a wall, nicely framed an' all.

I thought that the original looked a little flat, yellow and muddy, so I had a go at it myself...

Again, this is a beautiful image, I love it.

Great shot, i-Berg! I love all the diagonals and my eye is really drawn to the top wheel (or whatever it's called :blush to the top right of the centre. I like the sepia tones also - Pauly's version is good too, but I think he's added a little bit of sharpening as well, which I normally like, but in this case I prefer the softer lines and colours in your picture.

Lidy, no sharpening was added at all. I just adjusted the bright areas and shadows slightly.

Thank you to everyone - Paul, I appreciate you going the extra yards with this. The flat / yellow / muddy was my poor attempt to 'age' the image, using LR 3. Yours is a better image.
Speaking of walls Alun - the eucalypt is a painting on the back wall of the storage facility - it was the one area where the background did not intrude on the subject in a way that was unacceptable.
Lidy - I dread to say, but I believe that 'wheel thing' is actually the pilot's control for the ailerons - a bit like steering wheels for cars I suppose... This Duigan aircraft design did not use wing-warping for roll control, BTW - it actually had ailerons.
And Tim - I never feel bad about c&c - promise!

The Duigan biplane was the first Australian designed and built aircraft to fly, at a place called Mia Mia in country Victoria.
The viewing was timed to coincide with the flight's centenary, 1910 - 2010.
I had intended to enter this in the comp - then realised that the date was out of range!
