No manual setting on K50

I don't use the K50 much but I switched it on just now and found that turning the mode selector wheel was fine except when it came to 'M' where it displayed 'TAV' instead. I tried replacing the battery but no difference, also checked it has the latest firmware version. Any ideas anyone?

I believe if you have auto ISO enabled in Manual mode it's selects TaV mode. Set ISO to a fixed value in manual and it should then register manual mode.

Yeah I don't think you should be able to enable auto/floating ISO in Manual mode, given that's actually TAv.

True but I didn't realise it was set like that, nor that instead of the auto ISO deactivating in 'M', the 'M' setting changes instead.

It sounds like the situation is actually that you can't engage Manual mode with auto - ISO activated. That makes sense to me as Manual really suggests full fixed control over all three exposure settings. The mode indicates Tav to reflect the practical reality.

It's probably not very well spelled out, because it seems to trip up many people. Also earlier cameras, such as my K7, don't even have Auto-ISO in any modes other than TAv. I don't even think P mode is auto-ISO on the K7 .....green mode presumably is....?
