Pentax K1 Battery Grip

It seems that differently from the previously models, no one made a copy of the DBG6 battery grip. Am I right?

Seems to take a year or two for 3rd party suppliers to "copy" Pentax grips - probably a matter of the volumes of bodies being sold and the likely volumes of the 3rd party items which would be sold (they probably also think that people who can afford a K-1 can also afford a genuine BG6 grip!)
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Are you saying that SRS are selling grips for the K-1 from manufacturers other than Ricoh-Pentax, because, if you are, then I could not find them when I looked just now?
Or have you simply misunderstood sebas' question?

I guess he is saying that the original one is on promotion, but I bet it will be still too expensive

edit: checked, I was right for both guesses

Seems to confirm what I thought, and the likely correctness of my first post

Seem to remember those offers, but they were way out of my "price league" to start with (and the K-1 seemed too heavy for me when I tried it at TPS2016).
OTOH, it's a fair bet that you might begin to see 3rd party clones towards the end of this year if K-1 sales hold up worldwide.

I will wait for it, it's not an emergency. I just want to see if it will improve how I hold it with a tamron 70-200. The only problem is that it will become a monster. I start to envy the mirrorless owners.

The grip on the K1 makes it a hefty and heavy camera. Especially with a Tamron 70-200.. Ive just got a grip free with my K1 from SRS. but for me it gives little advantage. when you consider it only takes a few seconds to exchange the battery. yes, before you all get at me...The added shutter button in portrait mode is a plus...

I used to have a BG, the extra button is obviously a plus, but I didn't like it. I would use it only for portrait sessions and only if it would improve the holding of the camera, without the extra battery inserted.

Sebas

With you on that - never used the grip shutter button with the K-5 or K-3 .but used grips because there is a better balance when I use the 100-300 F4 or 150-500 Sigmas.

TBH, if you could find "any old grip" that can be roughly fitted to the bottom of the K-1 then that might solve the basic problem (cheap clone, and maybe not even intended for a Pentax, with top bits "chopped off where necessary" and neoprene or similar foam tape added to fill the gaps - that's how I successfully fitted a clone grip for a K-5 to the K-3 )

I actually liked the extra button, I didn't like the BG overall on the K10D, but it's good to hear that you used it for better balance. I can't really hold the 70-200 in a steady position currently. I have the impression that any different BG than the DBG6 won't fit in.
