Although I try to be inclusive in life I didn't previously see you as the kind of guy that likes to dress up dolls.

Better than the kind of guy who likes to undress dolls, I guess.

Interesting and weird shots Nigel, well done.

Brilliant set.. Loved them...

Thanks also stub!

I like the suggestion from chris above about trying a sextrypt (?) sort of montage, and I will have a go at it.

Thanks to everyone else who have commented also

Nigel, these are head and shoulders above any portrait shots of mine. Cheers.Philip

Nice one Philip! Shoulders? Yes. Heads? Maybe not I did face quite a conundrum though with focusing - really needed a bit of Cabstar's expert advice on where to focus in the absence of any eyebrows!

Well, I ensured I took a full cross section from the window display ... however, South Kensington is a rather well-to-do area

Nigel I wooden know where to start in offering an opinion on these however if I were to nit pick I would say that there seems to be a significant amount of grain showing which could be removed with a touch of PP (i've heard that adobe woodworkshop CC is good for this).
I will admit that they are knot really to my liking but I can appreciate the effort you have taken to stay true to your roots and not look like a dummy by trying something new.

With regard to John's comment on sharpness, I do feel that this is a bit unfair as these would always come up softer than other less sustainable subjects.

All in all I feel you have managed to branch into a new area of photography and I applaud the fact that you sawn an opportunity to dove tail your previous skills and chisel out a brand new niche.

And after all that I'm going to go and lay down forest.

I can't compete with the expert evaluation from Ralph, but for what it's worth (not much) I'd say there was too much monotony of texture. All ash. What about a little oak, sycamore, ebony etc. It's not your fault, but in a society of mixed trees I'd expect to see shops take a little effort to reflect that variety in their displays.

Otherwise, I like the shots - a grouping of them could be very effective. I'm pleased to see you are beyond your Riddlesdown phase...

The laughs just keep on coming Its a new direction for sure, and there are plenty more strangers in the area just waiting to be photographed, so keep an eye out for more pics on the theme.

Rest assured though that it is unlikely to detract me from my core pursuit of documenting the fields & hillsides of the Croydon/Surrey borders. Thanks again to all who have looked at the set and commented .... now, who mentioned grain on the wood? ... I really must find a plug-in to strip that out immediately!
