The new camera is likely to have "contrast detect" AF off the sensor. Some beta tester say the video capabilities will "snuff" the Nikon and Canon DSLR video capabilities.

Still nothing on UK site.

Strangely enough, that looks like the clearest shot of the camera so far!!

perhaps the "New" Pentax feature is some sort of resolution/dynamic range multiplier that works in conjunction with the SR for pixel shifting multiexposures?

Strange isnt it, 1/8000th though.

That must have an f/1.0 lens attached. It won't go lower
than what's available on the lens and won't show anything
with no lens attached. Canon had an f/0.95 out in the
sixties..... so maybe Pentax have made an adapter for it

Battery indicator with more than 2 segments gives a little more accuracy.

ISO indicator AND exposure counter in the top LCD, allso an improvement.

The black&white image of the TOP LCD allso shows a small mark printed for the location of the sensor.

New kit lens.

I don't see why it shouldn't be autofocus in movie mode. There are rumours of a Nikon D750 coming out with that functionality and there are surely various possible technical solutions.

If the new Pentax has this there is little doubt I'd buy myself one. I have recently been shooting more and more video snippets using my Canon Powershot S3, but it just isn't good enough for what I want in low light (video and stills).

At the same time it seems to me that Pentax's approach of in body stabilisation offers a potentially much lighter and more useable package for the kind of thing I want to do, compared to say a 5D Mk II and with some massive L series lens stuck on the end.

It think many old school photo buffs are seriously underestimating the popular attractiveness of a decent slr/video package; if Pentax can deliver on this it could radically transform their market position.

I love the direction pentax are taking... going for ruggedness and weather proofing at an affordable price point.. it is really setting them apart from the other Canikon rivals.

If so I'm tempted to buy one, would be a great adventure lens if it's cheap.

They could make it work but they need to have another autofocus system, AF TTL would be problematic since you need to redirect the image to the AF sensor but it also needs to land on the sensor to record an image.

Contrast measurment would be an AF solution but you need high contrast for that.
The camera anylise the image and makes sure that high contrast area doesn't go blurry.

Active focus would also be a solution and that eye next to the shutter release migh well be that. The problem is that the camera needs to know the focus distance of the lens so the lens needs to give feedback on that.
So far as I know no Pentax lens does that but maybe the SDM lenses might give through that information.
I've heared rumors that the DA*60-250 was late because they wanted to make the lens compatible with a new feature of the K-7 but like I said that's a rumor.
