if it's going to have video, it had better have a mic jack.

I still have no interest in a video feature, but if they've done it I hope they've done it right.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Is that not the selftimer light? or maybe it's the movie running light. It would be covered by your fingers when using the camera anyway...... maybe it checks your fingerprint to see if you are Microsoft approved

All seems it has mic input, I wrote that and some more "quite possible features" of the new camera some time ago in the "new pentax camera" topic .

I don't take any notice of "quite possible features", if I did then according to Pentaxforums it will make me tea and toast in the mornings and run on unleaded fuel.

As I wrote there, I don't bother myself with the features wish list on some pentaxforums .

Don't know if anybody have seen this photo, but it looks like K7 has an AF assist light link
To me it looks just like the IR receiver that is on the other DSLR's we allready have to be able to use the IR remote control.

On the left side of the prism housing you see the flash button and the socket for the studio flash just as the K20D has.

I played a little with the dimensions on the image that Stefan linked and my uneducated guess the new K7 will be a little smaller then the K20, about 1,5 cm difference in the width of the camera.

AF assist bulb, such as other makes have. Will this mean a new AF? I hope so!

K-7 cannot come soon enough, and having movie mode on it too (albeit at 720p as rumoured) I will be happy. I thought I would'nt say that, why movie on an DLSR, but after doing copious amounts of movies for our company executive with my humble S6500fd, It might be very useful indeed, if not used often.

roll on the 20th May!

Come one Chris@SRS, give us some teasers, have you seen it? if so, will it be a worthy replacement to the K20D?

Well I hope that the movie mode will be something usefull including full-time AF with the mirror up.
If they include the movie mode the same way they included live-view on the K20D they can just as well leave it out.

I agree Golf, they cannot do these half hearted.

going away from the AF and movie mode a bit, with all these rumour going around the web about the K-7, do you get the impression that this camera is the one that Pentax wanted to replace the K10D? Just a hunch, as if everything is to be believed, then all the shortfalls with current Pentax DSLR's (Low light AF, FPS, 'proper' live view, lack of HDMI input, etc) that "could" be remedied with the K-7, were going to be 18 months ago (like other makes). But with the takeover of Pentax by Hoya, they could not put the K-7 in place at the time, but only put the 14.6mp sensor in the K10D body, with a few tweaks such as the X-sync and better menu's? Pentax at the time HAD to bring a new camera, just to keep up with the competition (in many ways ahead)
Not that I am complaining, the K20D is a great camera, but could be so much better with regards to certain items that aid the already great IQ.

Just a thought. (and this is not a complaint, only an observation)

The problem with AF is how it works, here is an drawing and you will see what the problem is.

Yep the mirror let's some light through and reflects it on to the AF sensor, this means that the sensor needs.

So to get the AF to work with video you will need a completly other system, that's where the others also are struggling with.

Nice Anvh. Obviously video will only work with live view as any other way will not work.
Unless Pentax have dramatically improved thier version of live view, it is clearly not going to work properly, especially with any AF included (which will be needed with movie mode).
So, does this mean that Pentax have worked hard on a new AF for both "normal" through the viewfinder and with live view? Here's hoping.

Well no since the cmos sensor doesn't have anything to equipment to focus with, it only record light.
If you autofocus with Liveview the screen goes black I think and now you know why it does it, sony use a different system.

Comment Image

This the sony system,
when the line is vertical it will go through the viewfinder,
If the lines goes up it gets redirected to a sensor specially for liveview, if that sensor can record then you could be able to focus while recording but you can't use the main sensor.
