Impressive images indeed. Even a tight crop produces some very good results.
I do think that the images you have shown are lacking contrast and are perhaps a little over-exposed.

Joking apart, I wouldn't be at all surprised if some very good lenses, that can achieve a very sharp foreground, coupled with a very smooth, non-distracting, OOF background, illustrate the effect better than others.
But no-one's claiming a '3D' effect at F16, where everything's sharp, surely?

I've seen 6x7 shots with fairly wide lenses at f2.8 where the dof looks suprisingly narrow, giving the effect of looking at a miniature scene greatly magnified. I'm sure this is because of the larger size of the film compared to 35mm so I would expect similar results going from apsc to a MF sensor. I guess the effect could be replicated on apsc but not at normal apertures or wider focal lengths.

These images to my eyes are lacking any real "bite" and sharpness, but I suspect that's more to do with how they have been processed for the web.
As it stands, we've seen sharper pictures from any of the Pentax DSLRs.
How did you resize the images? If you let Photobucket do it, then I'd recommend making the image the right size in Photoshop before you upload it.
