Lee filter setup for P67II

Hi again,

I've now realised that with the collection of Pentax 67 lenses that I use I have a number of different filter thread sizes to accommodate on a shoot. Up to now I have been using the Lee filter system with ND Grads and Warming filters on the Lee Holder system. I already have the ring adaptors for 67, 77 and 82mm.

This setup is fine but I have a problem when I want to use a Circular Polariser. The only one I currently have is a Nikon 77mm CPL which I have from my 35m equipment. To use this with the Lee filters is a bit tricky as I have to mount the CPL on the lens and then mount the Lee filters on that in front of it. It's tricky because the CPL rotates itself when you try and screw anything to it...

Anyhow I saw that Lee recommend a 105mm B+W Kaesemann CPL to fit to the front of the filter holder kit. I have a couple questions about this:

1) Does it make any difference to put the CPL in front of other filters rather than behind ? (ND Grads, Warming filters)
2) How is the quality of the B+W filter? I have heard they are good (although expensive)

Is anyone using this Lee setup in practice?

I use a similar setup but with a Heliopan 105mm CPL. The CPL adapter ring screws on (4 screws) to the front of the Lee holder, and the CPL screws into the adpater. The CPL is too large to fit inside the holder by itself.

The only option is to place other filters in the holder behind the CPL, between CPL and lens.

Have a look at this one, complete with adapter and the BIN price is very good. (I have no connection with the seller).

1) No. It shouldn't make any difference what order the filters sit in.

2) Excellent. I have Hoya, Pentax and B+W filters and I think that the B+W ones are the best you can buy. They are expensive here in the UK (and probably in HK too) but in many EU countries their prices are similar to Hoya. In these days of international trade I'd look at buying B+W filters from a German supplier where they seem to be cheapest.

I've just realised that the B+W comes in a regular and an 'extra-wide' version. On the Robert White website under the page for polarising filters they don't actually list the 'extra wide' version but I can see it for sale on B&H in the USA....

Does anyone know if the 'Regular' version will cause vignetting on the wide angle lenses? (eg, the Pentax 67 45mm/55mm lenses or the Nikon 17-35mm lens).
