ps could some let me know what the best thing for cleaning the sensor would be

I'm still learning myself, so please take with a pinch of salt.

If possible I'd have moved to the left to try and take out the sign post and possibly get more water into the scene.

Why do you need to clean the sensor? Image looks fine to me.
