Just seen the Moon & Mars low to the west before clouds went over. If that's a prelude it should be fantastic. In Portugal at prime vewing time. Have to think about the lenses to take.

Thanks,
There was an earlier topic that went on about Moon Mars. Can't find it now on Search. Whatever, what I just saw looked impressive. Or am I just seeing double

Hi Gwyn, Oh Nothing to get excited about then. Thanks for the hint. Just have to get hold of one of those 1000mm Russians to make it look bigger

ROFL.

Forgive me, but I've been watching that urban myth roll round every year for the last seven. It's such a shame that it's not true - but I really do worry sometimes that some folks will literally go to the ends of the earth to get clear skies on those days - yet still never double-check that it's not a hoax. I do hope your Portugal trip wasn't arranged specially?

I just wish the line from the original email: "NO ONE ALIVE WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN" was actually true, insofar as the email itself was concerned. We may never see the alignment again, but I reckon we'll see that email year, after year, after year, after year, until the Internet touches the Sun.

Phew! Well in that case, I hope you enjoy it, and come back well-rested, happy and replete with plenty of sumptuous top-notch hotel food. And to blazes with Mars and moons, eh?
