New member - A couple of miscellaneous pics

Hi everyone. I am a new member, and there were so many welcoming responses on my intro thread, I have been persuaded to post a few pics to see what people think. I have posted a few threads here just to seperate things out a bit by subject. I hope that is ok.

First shot is nice, sharp and good lighting, the others lack sharpness. The wine bottle shot would benefit from portrait orientation rather than landscape, good imaginative set though.

Good to see you experimenting straight away! As snappy says, watch the sharpness - the teapots could probably have benefited from a tripod. Also, care with composition - the teapots have some distraction in the top right corner. The Xmas tree doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid, but the others show good potential. Nice.

Totally agree about the sharpness thing. I often miss shots I want because of that. I think I need to learn to relax, take my time, and also to use my tripod more!

Also agree about the bottle orientation. The picture shown is basically how it came out of the camera. If I were going back to it I think I would definately crop it as portrait.

Actually, I agree with everything said here, except of course I like the christmas tree one! It was my first attempt at deliberate zoom effect and I was pleased it came out like I was expecting.

1st one works best for me. Nice colours and sharpness and an interesting object.

2nd one is okay, the bottle is nicely lit. Lots of black areas though, and the bottle is too central.

3rd one has too much motion blur, and I don't think the composition works. The two teapots in a vertical line, and the messy bits in the top right.

4th one is interesting, good on you for experimenting with long exposure zooms, but this particular shot hasn't worked so well I feel.

5th one is just a bit blah Not sharp enough, and not especially interesting subject either.
