What format did you shoot it on, Raw or J-peg?
Personally I would adjust the brightness or exposure slightly to bring out the crinkly bits around the middle. Also this would lighten the stamen.
A crop would also benefit the flower to cut out the clutter on the left. Maybe a square crop, something like 12"x12"
You could either go for the outside of the flower or a closer crop which shows that nice crinkly middle bit around the stamen.
To me it looks like a nice picture, maybe you could have given a bit more room around the bottom petals, but then again if you wanted the close crop then that wouldn't matter.
I like it as given the right treatment it has great potential

I would also crop and focus more on the center of your flower...the eye wants to wander there and study it. I think it would be a stunning picture if you go into the center.
Good luck with your new camera

Hi,
Thanks for the comments. I have cropped the image but I have run out of space on here and Flickr and ePhotozine So the new one will have to wait.

You can put as many images as you like in the forums, but they have to hosted somewhere on the web and linked to. Photobucket is an effective and free hosting service.
You can't link into the forums from the gallery or from EPZ.

Hi,
Spent this morning at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve in Doncaster with John trying to master my technique with the K20D I got on Friday and improve my macro skills! I have posted one of my shots on the gallery which I like when it is zoomed in but am not sure about as it looks on screen. The one below is another of today's shots for comment please. I seem to be struggling a bit moving away from wildlife on safari to wildlife in the UK

Looks fantastic to me PentaxBabe. Would really love to see it in a slightly larger format, may be 800 by 600? The details seem pretty sharp and lovely looking image. You seem to be mastering the macros pretty quick, well done, now let's see some more images from that lovely new K20D and macro lens of yours

Hi Amin,
Thanks for your comments. I will load the bigger picture onto the gallery tomorrow for you. For ePhotozine the photo has to be this size. Will look at some other photo sharing websites so I can load some more!
