So, is this right? Does the green post icon actually give you want you were all thinking was missing? Or have we still missing a detail of it somewhere?

If you look at the compression artifacts on the red pentax logo you have to ask yourselves if the guys resizing our cherished images know anything about image manipulation and web compression.
Believe me guys you really don't want to be leaving your image resizing to some serverside script designed by a geek.
550 pixels wide is ludicrously small- this is a photography forum!! what are you thinking?
The ads take up far too much space. Make the site wider - people with small monitors are used to scrolling and they probably haven't got enough money to spend on your precious ads.

Velvertoft has a point about the gallery. I was a member of another forum - there were thousands of members world wide, but the majority of them only ever posted in the gallery. There was no limit on the number of photos people could post, and indeed some seemed to upload their entire collection of, often dismal, snapshots. Some seemed completely unaware of the forum, which seemed to become the ground of a few die hards. It ceased to be a place for learning and bouncing ideas around. Those on the gallery often did not appreciate constructive criticism from the forum members, and could get quite nasty. that is the reason I left. It will be a shame if that happens here, though the one per day upload limit for non subscribers may help with that.

I decided against applying to become a beta tester, because I was put off by the way the request was worded. They weren't interested in replies via the thread, and I would have had to justify why I'd make a good tester. If you are interested in beta testing, please email us at [email protected] with an email of the following:

I simply wasn't interested in justifying my skills in order to have my 'application' 'accepted'.
However, if they'd said that they were planning a major change to the forum (rather than to the Pentax User site, which I rarely use), I might have realised that I had a vested interest in providing some feedback.
However, the response to the one report I've now raised makes me think that I was better off not getting involved.

We are currently considering the options for larger photo browsing. As for the artifacts in the logo. This is done so the graphics of the site don't have a significant effect on the load time of the site. On the old forums the logo was actually up-scaled from a smaller version therefore making it blurry.
So, are the greenicon/bolding doing the trick for the new post indicator everyone?

Dare I say it, Depressing Reviews system of posting images in their forums is superb, constrained to the forum width but a simple click on the image expands it to full size, no compression nesseccary.
Cheers

For me the green icon comes on only if new posts arrive while I'm logged in. If I log out and then come back to the forum, any new posts that have been submitted when I was logged out, don't show up as 'green' or 'bold', so it's hard to see new posts.

It seems to use the same space as the icon which indicates "hot topic", etc., so it's one or t'other. Why not place it below?Just a question about the 'new posts' feature that appears to be missing. Colours. (why is there no title for messages?)
The present style, with grey text on a light grey background, is not conducive to readability. Especially for those who are the wrong side of fifty.

In the old forum you could title your individual posts, that's now gone.
Not sure that you can actually see the over all title of the thread either...

What left hand column? I see no column. I am talking about replies, rather than new posts.George Lazarette wrote:

Top right of the right hand column George. A nice little envelope icon, and the text "My Messages".Colours. (why is there no title for messages?)
