The K10D one is an update to make it more stable when recording with certain SDHC cards. I don't own any SDHC cards so I won't be bothering, but it's nice to see Pentax continuing to support older models in this way anyway.

Good spot Gwyn! Reassuring to see them releasing updates for cameras from so far back. Wouldn't have expected that at all.
Looks like they are all to do with SDHC cards so maybe it was easy to roll out to all. Nothing groundbreaking - I've not seen many reported problems in this area. Do you think it is increasing the maximum card size that can be used?
I now need to wait a year for Samsung to produce the equivalent update for the GX20

Thanks for that, I'm quite surprised too.

That really surprised me as well!
Amazing. Kudos to Pentax for providing these!
...but I have a few little niggly K7 bugs to report Must get on with that

Odd that the K20D .exe file is over 7Mb but the K10D update is 1.6Mb.
I suppose its just too much to hope that they've slipped in the ability to switch between SDM and screw focussing?
Yes, of course it is. Silly me.
I wondered the same thing Pete, but I wasn't silly enough too ask.

Mat I understand there is a silent firmware update out for the K7.
This may help with some of your bugs.

They have SDHC logo on the door so that would mean it should take all SDHC cardsLooks like they are all to do with SDHC cards so maybe it was easy to roll out to all. The K20D has a lot more software based features than the K10D so I ain't so surprised.

The K20D update is actually smaller than the previous one ... only by 18 bytes but smaller!
So what is missing?

Did you unpack them and then compared?

The files are probably packed with s to a specific size.

Does anyone know if updates reset the camera to default settings?
