Need quick help on a lens that's on Ebay

Hi,
Tamron 72B SP 90MM F2.8 MACRO LENS ADAPTALL FIT pentax is for sale on ebay, auction ending very soon so if anyone could answer my questions I'd appreciate it.

1. Is this a 1:1 macro lens?
2. Will it fit onto a Pentax K-7 or do I need to buy a seperate adapter?
3. Would you recommend this lens? My budget for a macro lens is €150 max. It'd be used for trying macro out, a bit of everything (mainly objects, not inscets). Ideally I'd like it for portraits too but don't think I'd find one within my budget.

This is the 72B version, it comes with a Pentax P/Ka adapter but you can obtain other adaptall mounts to fit it to your camera. The lens has been well used & the exterior of the lens shows plenty of signs of wear, but it still works fine. Aperture works fully, focus is smooth & the optics are in very good condition. comes with caps

I can't access Ebay from work but I believe this model will do 1:1 without the extension tube, if the mount is included it will work with your K-7 straight off providing the mount is OK. Some user comments here:

Yes, the PKA adapter is the best one, which allows use of Av and the other semi-auto modes on the camera. Lens has a good reputation, Cardiff Gareth had one until quite recently, you might want to look at his Flickr.

Yes, the P/Ka adapter has the A (Auto aperture) for automatic exposure and is worth quite a bit on it's own. It should allow you to control the aperture from the camera body.

Hi Patrick - funny to meet you here in this forum .... the Tamron is a full-blown 1:1 Macro - when I got my Pentax 100mm, the Tamron and the Sigma 105 where the two competitors (I got a good test report that day, but couldn't find it anymore - but I remember that the results for the Tamron where not that bad. Interesting to know, that you have a K7 now

As John noted, keep in mind that the PKA adapter is worth 40-50 GBP on its own....

...missed out on it. It went for £93. In hindsight I should have raised my max bid.
Oh well....

I forgot all about that auction. The lens alone was worth the £93 and the PK/A mount another £50.

I carry the exact same model in my bag .. superb manual macro lens.

If the OP hoped to get this for a reasonable price I'm not sure that asking about it was a good option. It's a mixed blessing really, getting the answer but alerting a lot of people if it happens to be a bargain.

John - Patrick did try a PM to me first, as I had previously recommended the current model Tammy 90 that I use. I think he only went open here because I was unable to resolve his original query.

The lens went for buttons!! I've never seen a 90-105mm go for about £50 before. The Cosina f/3.5's come close.

Just like the Lottery the Numbers always look so obvious
the day after!

I was once outbid on an A*300/4 by 1 pence, it put me in a bad mood for days after

Always bid the maximum amount you actually want to spend. And then forget about it if you don't get it. Another lens will be along soon enough and there's never a point in spending more than you want to.
