My bargain £25 lens

Posted 05/07/2024 - 15:39 Link
I recently bought this Sigma 70-300mm f4/5.6 Macro lens to replace my Pentax DA 50-200mm WR because I wanted something with a bit more reach. Anyway I could not afford the Pentax 55-300mm so I looked on E-Bay and bought the Sigma for £25. It's a cracking lens to be honest despite the negative reviews I have read and with practice and a new monopod, I hope to get some great photos in the future

The first picture is of a Tamron lens, not Sigma... Did you read reviews of the Sigma then buy a Tamron?

But if it does what you want for £25, who cares about the manufacturer, you've got a bargain.

LOL! What an idiot I am, it's because my other lens is a Sigma and I had Sigma in my brain. Yes it is a Tamron and all that I said applys to it ha ha!

BOTH lenses mentioned are very nice and I got lots of fun from my own Tamron version. Getting one for £25 is a real killing as they tend to go for twice that!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

I remember buying a Sigma 70-300 4/5.6 APO Macro in the late 90s for what was then considered a bargain = £250!! Makes you think.
