MX-1 Purchase

I've just bought one and didn't even bother looking at other suppliers. SRS are usually very competitive on price but for any small difference in price, the 2 year warranty and their after sales service in most definitely worth the difference.

In general, I agree. Have we heard back from SRS about whether the 2-year warranty applies to non-SLRs? Perhaps they are still waiting on clarification from Pentax, or perhaps I missed the response.

£224 is a good price - none cheaper on ebay.
Cheapest I am aware of currently (from a reputable dealer) is £219.
Personally - I would be parking in Sainsury's car park opposite SRS and toddling in there

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

Goodness don't prices fluctuate?
I bought one from One Stop PC Shop last week for £186. But nowhere has it for less than £120 now. Odd since it's been discontinued and you think they'd want to get rid of them. But it's not being replaced (no idea why since everybody loves it and Rioch do nothing remotely similar) so maybe that's why they've gone up in price. No idea how these things work.
Pretty sure mine hasn't got a two year guarantee: I think you'd need a Pentax approved dealer for that.
Couldn't get a silver one for a cheap price, though. Which is a shame.

Really wish you hadn't mentioned that, Mike. I've been swithering for a couple of weeks about buying an MX-1 after some great feedback and sample shots here, but decided I could live without one. I deal with Amazon.fr quite often and, thanks to Mike's tip-off, should be receiving an MX-1 from them in a couple of days. Didn't help that I'm just back from the pub. Must add that I generally deal with SRS but this deal seemed too good to pass up.
Edit: The total came to £182.84 including case, memory card, tripod and shipping. I have my fears about the tripod.

I've decided to go for an MX-1 as a present for a family member, I'm near enough to collect from SRS at £224 but I think its been about elsewhere for quite a bit less? Be grateful for a heads up on price/availability if anyone has any info.
Thanks.

Excellent deal Aero. Nice one. Full size pod or one of those table top types?
I was trying to video the wife singing at one of her pub gigs, using the MX-1, and used my strongbow pint with a beer mat on top. Thought then that a table top tripod might be worth getting

Don't know about the tripod, I'm afraid. I suspect it's a table-top job. They can work pretty well with a light camera. I've got a couple that came free with magazines and one I bought many years ago with a screw to attach it to a tree, if the need arises. It's well worth having one for the odd time you'd use it. Even the magazine give-aways work well enough, certainly for the sort of shooting you're talking about. And it would free up your Strongbow pint for more important things.

Thanks Gents and to you especially Mike, just purchased from Amazon France 219.65 Euros plus 6.10 Euros shipping so 225.75 Euros at 81 pence (not sure if it will be quite that) is just under £183 with 8GB card, case and a little tripod.
Great Deal.

It is a good camera and nothing like the lazy compromise most compacts are. I took mine out today and nearly ran out of battery power I used it so much. It's so adaptable and the images so clean.
Best wishes,
Andrew
