I guess it makes sense to have a clear devide of Ricoh doing all the compacts and Pentax doing the CSC/DSLR/645D. Hats off to Ricoh, they really are pulling out all the stops. No FF but that can be forgiven for now. Can only do so much, so quickly.

The capitalist ties of the other forum to the B&H/Adorama cabal doesn't sit well with me.
A forum running articles that's only agenda is to help profit a company doing a clear out sale isn't tasteful.
The relationship with this forum and SRS is more respectful and morally good.
SRS are great and I'd always buy anything new from them, as I have done in the past. I'd NEVER buy anything from B&H/Adorama.

So you said elsewhere, but the OP message is clear. The MX-1 is a great compact and at the current price level just begs to be bought.
Those who dither may well regret doing so later.

Smeggy, Nothing wrong with B&H, every time i am state side I always call in, it's the only thing that makes visiting the states bearable, We own 2 MX1s, one was bought from B&H, the other from SRS so I have feet in both camps so to speak,
What I do find with B&H, is that they are very very pro Pentax and most times I have visited they have a Pentax Rep in store so that can't be a bad thing, also I have mentioned before, I regard them as the overweight, overthere SRS
So what's it to be smeggy, Black or Silver:

The Adorama price for the MX1 is about £130 which is excellent if you live in the States but their delivery charges are huge to the UK.

I was travelling to the US and needed to order a couple of items to be shipped to my hotel. You cannot order on the website on (UK times) Friday Evenings, Saturday or into the early hours of Sunday. I needed it shipping on the Monday to be with me on Tuesday or Wednesday. As I was travelling and NO access to any form of connection on Sunday and Monday, I could not order until I arrived in the US late on the Monday and it could not be delivered in time.
Why do they need to turn off their website capability? Or is it really a person at the other end?

B&H won't ship to hotels. My visit to NY coincided exactly with passover, and as it's Jewish owned and run, it was closed for exactly the 8 days I was there. Very bad luck, as I wanted to get something that can only be bought there. I tried to order it to be delivered to my hotel so it would be there when i arrived, but no luck, they refuse to deliver to hotels, so they lost my business.

I bought my Nikon Coolscan from Adorama. It had been discontinued everywhere else.I'd NEVER buy anything from B&H/Adorama.
I had several emails and phone calls with them, since I was very nervous about importing something so expensive from the USA.
Their service was perfect in every way, including getting it out of the warehouse and checking it over before sending it. Just one transaction, I know, but it wasn't simple, and it was faultless.

I don't understand how this is a black mark against B&H. If you don't agree with the forum, fine, I can understand that. The capitalist ties of the other forum to the B&H/Adorama cabal doesn't sit well with me.

But everything I've read seems to indicate that they are quite a reasonable company to deal with. It seems odd to hold a grudge against a company because of one particular method of gaining interest and revenue.
Now if they supported child labour or international terrorism then fair enough.
Still, each to their own

I'm glad.
Its a romantic dream, but I'd hope a future Pentax digital 35mm would carry the MX name as its my favorite 35mm camera.

I've purchased from Adorama and BH when in the States, and in both cases the service was faultless. BH are unusual in also allowing you to calculate the full cost of importing to the UK, incl custom duties etc. At that point, it is generally the case that SRS looks like a very good option! Even more so if you want minimum hassle warrantee repairs.
BH website closes for all of the Jewish festivals though, incl the Sabbath, so by the time you factor in the five hour time difference, weekend shoppers from the UK can only purchase on Sundays.
If we're talking about websites and ties to shops, I find the DP Review link to Amazon and their own "Gear Shop" somewhat more worrying.

Possibly because the company was founded by a Hasidic Jew who thought that obeying the rule about work on a Saturday was more important than profit.
