Also well worth considering is the Sigma HSM 70-200 f2.8

Fast and accurate focus and decent image quality. Although the Pentax 60-250 and 300 lenses will do the job perfectly well, I find the Sigma my preferred lens for motor sport (in the absence of a 100-300).

Funnily enough i was just looking at that and at the reviews, the image quality seems almost as good as the da* 300mm. Which i have owned and miss. would need to get rid of the 50-135.
AGGHHH no sleep for me tonight again now while i fumble and fudge about what to get

Don't forget that the 60-250mm has a max aperture of f4 compared to the faster f2.8 of the 50-135mm. Not much of an issue if you don't do much low light work.

For similar money, I'd probably go for this. Faster focussing, faster max aperture, ability to set OS for panning (which you can't do with in body SR), ideal for motorsport. Well, actually I did and haven't used my 60-250mm since.

A DA* 2.8 60-250 would be great. and also very costly

Mmmm i do like the length of the 60-250 though, its wr,its a da* and instead of getting the da300mm i could get the new tc which would give me 350mm all in one lens with a greater range. as opposed to 50-135 and a 300mm, mmm spare cash towards new body, either k5iis or k3. Low light performance at the minute isn't a huge worry. It has certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons.

I now have a da*60-250mm F4 and an f 28mm f2.8 if i need anything wider than 60mm. Just impatiently waiting for delivery of a K5iis Bought on here from hogboy.
Race day is saturday, i will just be in the regular spectators area, i emailed the event organizer hoping to talk my way into a media pass, unsuccessful for Saturday but they have kindly offered one for the next two outings, one is a vintage car event and the other is truck racing.
Can anyone tell me is use of flash prohibited ???

In my racing days I just wanted shots right on the apex, fully committed.
Going in, or coming out don't show the bike at full lean.
Big bikes might look good coming out of bends if they're leaving darkies or pulling wheelies, but mostly they will just look like they're not fully committed.
