They are talking to use cameras to aid them, that might be quite an improvement I think.

Well this time the ref saw saw it and quite correctly awarded a penalty, and sent the Uruguay player off. Unfortunately the Ghana player missed the penalty, hitting the crossbar.
The fact remains that Uruguay got through because one of their players stopped the ball going into the net with his arm.

Sorry, but Uruguay got through because they scored more penalties than Ghana. That`s the rule. The fact remains that Uruguay got through because one of their players stopped the ball going into the net with his arm

Yes , that is the rule, but it would never have gone to penalties if Uruguay had not cheated by blocking a goal-bound ball with an arm.

It seems that Mr Blatter (FIFA) holds that football should be the same everywhere, so that if your village team cannot have TV replay available to the referee, then neither should anyone else......

I agree with you entirely, for such a deliberate foul, the goal should have been awarded without a shot being taken. But Ghana really were terrible with there penalty shooting, for such an important part of the game particulaly in these major tournaments you expect they would practice a bit more.

You could be forgiven for thinking that, some of Ghana's attempts were woeful
Congrats too Stefan, so is that 24 in a row without defeat now for the Dutch, and I do believe it was we Aussies that last inflicted defeat on you , if only, if only, if only

I really don't understand the outcry about the end of this match. I also cannot see for the life of me how this is a fiasco. Someone broke the rules and they were properly penalised.
Suarez did what every other professional footballer would have done in that instance. In doing so, he has conceded a penalty, been sent off (which means he's out of the semi-final), and meant Uruguay have lost one of their penalty takers for the shoot-out. It's a huge gamble, but one that paid off, and it paid off because Ghana couldn't score a penalty.
Ghana had two chances to win the game, a last minute penalty and a shoot-out. They choked at both.
Anyone suggesting a goal should have been given hasn't got a clue. This isn't Rugby with its penalty try, this is football.
And as a last thought for all the recently emergent Ghana fans, how did the free-kick that lead to the chance and subsequent handball arise? Playacting by a Ghana player, that's how. Somewhat fitting the outcome in my eyes.
Had it been John Terry doing what Luis Suarez did, he would be held up as a hero, taking one for the team. But as always, the huge double standards come to the surface.
I for one applaud Suarez, he's shown more national pride in one second than any of our players did in four games.

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
Apparently.
