A few more from the WWT London trip on Saturday, not as busy as the recent visit to Slimbridge with a lot less ankle bighters about

Did spot 2 x Green Woodpeckers on the grass early on, disturbed by a WWT warden walking close by before I could train the lens on them, also had a flypast by a Jay got itself in a tree fairly high up and could only see the back between the branches.

You picked a good day to go Chris, I live only about 3 miles away and pondered going in on Sunday but I have a lot of other jobs around the house that need doing.

I have seen one green woodpecker and one jay occcasionally at Barnes but never close enough to get a good image, and there is always the problem that when you think you're about to get an image someone comes into range - and they are rarely quiet. Screaming kids and shouty parents, less said about the grandparents the better - send them to play with the deer in Richmond Park..

Been a while since I have seen frogs there, lovely capture!

Thanks, the frogs are in the ditch alongside the carpark, outside of the WWT centre, seen them every time I visit, they are fairly well hidden thou with just the eyes above the waterline but once you've spotted one, you'll notice a few more.

It is his / her leg and as it was part of the amphibian I decided to keep it in. also with the " green peas " it smudged quite a bit

Thanks Don, it is a superbly versatile lens for one with such a range.

Yeah that first image!

Not sure if I'm more jealous of the lens or the camera!

The only shot where the camera played an extra part was the shot of the frog, due to the 1.5x crop factor, just a minimal crop to remove some rubbish in the ditch, otherwise SOOC, shot at max length of the lens @ 450mm effective 675mm

I've got a similar frog shot from LY on the K1 but had to crop a tad more, or get my feet / legs wet and its a not very nice looking ditch to be in imho, ok for frogs thou !!

All the rest on this thread could have been shot with any pentax camera + the 150 - 450, whereas the Common Hawker thread, the burst rate of the K3iii along with the improved autofocus helped achieve the dragonfly in flight
