More minimalism?

If simplicity is your "thing", you may like this set. They are almost 4 years old and I never got round to posting them, but would be interested to see what reaction they prompt. They are taken among the sand dunes on the northern coast of Fuerteventura. I remember that, at the time, their appeal lay in the vast simplicity of the landscape. Hope they appeal to you in the same way. All taken with K-3 and Sigma 18-250mm. Please feel free to comment!

What a great set John. Glad that you have dug them out to share with us! No 4and no 6 for me; what scale are we talking in no 6? I guess that is a small plant?!

Worth waiting for. Natural, clean images. All visual keys that open the imagination. Well seen and photographed.

They have lay dormant for years and have matured beautifully.

Beautiful shapes, forms and subtle shadows. No.4 being my top pick but, I like them all.

Beautiful pictures of a fascinating landscape. The shapes, surface textures, light and shadows are stunning. Well worth the wait to see them!

Strangely, the shapes of the dunes remind me of the shapes of some of the chalk landscapes of southern England (minus vegetation, of course).

Thanks to all for your comments - glad these appealed as much as I hoped they would. I think the textures suggested by the patterns in the sand (which are constantly changing of course) are a vital element of added interest - but that could just be my thing about "lines" again.

Andy, the plant in 6 is really small - no more than a foot high. The final shot is a pretty big crop of the original, just to get the effect that I thought was most appealing.

Lennybloke, monochrome had never occurred to me for these, I must admit. Probably because the colours are, for me, part of the simplistic appeal. I'll have a go, though, now you have brought the idea up!

Gwyn, they did indeed bring back memories. My wife and I have been to a few (not all) of the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura is the one I liked best so far for being a bit "wilder" than some, though they each have their own appeal. Lovely places - I must dig out some more "old" photos!

And to everyone else, thanks again for taking the time to comment - it's always good to get approval from fellow Pentaxians! I was approached on holiday this year in the Pyrenees by a stranger just because I had a Pentax camera. The chap, a Frenchman, was really pleased to see someone else using Pentax and we had a great chat for a few minutes!

A compelling set, simplicity with plenty of detail. The "wrinkles" on the dunes in 1 & 2 catch the eye in a particularly interesting way. My favorites, I think, would be 3 & 4, with just the small hint of sea in 3 and of mountain in 4, as if only a dream away in the distance.
