if they are using the Sony A7Rii sensor i would imagine the Pentax FF would be up for around £2500-3000
it does explain the 6 month delay as well
Sony A6000 plus a bunch of lenses
Sony A7ii plus loads of glass
Fuji X20

Sorry guys, but my first post ( containing no commentary) reflected how speechless I was at considering these pricing rumours for the long awaited FF, I would be astounded if a £3000 FF was the final outcome after all this procrastinating .

Ricoh / Pentax would be living in cuckoo land if this first FF comes in at anything significantly over £ 2000; for numerous reasons ; if it is close to £3000 it will be a major error.

Already there is a rash of top class FFs out there at £2000 (ish) and numerous below £2000.

I would be extremely dissappointed as a lifelong loyal Pentax User if after this "long and winding road" to a first FF we end ip with such a scenario.

I have prepared for this for a long time and have already purchased three FF lenses with another on order, but a £3000 FF body could be the "last chance saloon" for Pentax with many users including myself.

It is not about price but value; Such a camera would be the price of 4 Pentax K3 IIs and be up there pricewise, with the latest well developed and technically evolved pro-grade Canons.

I don't see that flying commercially , consider what we have seen in the recent report published (and posted on PU) a few weeks ago which concluded by precise technical comparison, that the IQ from a K3II (APS) surpassed that of the Nikon D810 FF (FF camera of the year.)

I sincerely hope these rumours do not become fact or the current "Grey Sky " over the brand will become much darker and likely brand loyalty would be stretched beyond breaking point for many of us.

I have never baulked at Pentax value / pricing but the gap between the mavellous K3 variants and a £3000 FF would be too wide for me to take seriously on any level or criteria.

What would be gained for that extra 400% in price; in reality, not a 400% improvement in IQ or low light capability or crop-ability,

I doubt we would see any improvements correlating with such an exponential pricing hike.

So I sincerely hope Pentax does not shoot itself "fatally" in the foot and these statements are indeed just speculative / escalating rumours.

Hopefully this will be the first of a range of FF cameras. The point though you made Daronl about suitable lenses, that the cost of the body is just the start. With smaller body cameras now starting to get FF I wonder whether APS-C format in DSLRs will fade away and therefore the new FA lenses are a better long-term investment even if you don't buy into the body yet.

rumour
noun
1.
a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.

As far as I am concerned, we can add 'bullshit' to the description line defining the word 'rumour', especially when relating to posts appearing on any of the Pentax forums.

I hope we are right Steve because $3000 USD pricing in the States always translates into the £ equivalent in the UK {£3000)

I have lived in the US in recent years and travel there quite often these days, so I have bought quite a few Pentax items and they do normally retail in the bigger dealers at the "dollar for pounds" ratio.

Interestingly I was looking around the Canon/Nikon Pro Centres here in Hong Kong only yesterday (can't locate a Pentax Pro Centre) and the prices are around 50% - 70% of UK prices in general

Common current examples ( yesterday); Canon 6D at £720 and the Nikon D810 at £1400
Canon / Nikon, Sigma and Tamron Lenses showing same sort of pricing patterns

So whatever happens , BS or not, we will pay "top dollar " or should I say "top pounds sterling" in the UK so lets hope these rumours are utter BS and the FF will be priced sensibly, at least a little below the Nikon D810 which would be a good comparable standard for Pentax to aim for when introducing their first FF to the matket.

Of course they are BS, why would RICOH announce any pricing at this point?

More Ff Rumours agai!!!

Latest FF Rumours.

Rico / Pentax have today leaked to a Tamron Rep living in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch, that they will be releasing their first FF DSLR, on February 1st 2016 at a guide price of £100.

The camera will be equiped with a newly developed Sony 56 Mp sensor, a built in flash with integrated swivel and bounce capability (Gn 40 at 100 ISO) ; additionally the camera will be equipped with onboard WiFi, GPS and a 15frame per sec' drive/grip

The camera will have 1 TB of built in memory, blue tooth transfer and aidrop printing capability.

It will be shockproof, and fully weather sealed and have a built in IPhone 7s, BBC IPlayer and ITV Player plus Freview HD for users in the Isle of Sky.

Pentax are offering an unconditional worldwide 15 year guarantee for three pounds (£)

UK dealers are bundling it with a free HD 150-450 Pentax zoom, a special edition FF 300 mm prime lens and for an extra £150 a newly developec 10mm to 200mm FF dedicated, rectilinear superzoom will be added to the bundle.

It is rumoured that the first 100 buyers will get a three week photographic holiday in the Amazon, accompanied by Sir David Attenborough, Kylie Minogue and our very own John Riley.

This offer ends on February 1st 2016, one tenth of a second after the first body is sold but anyone being dissapointed will be offered a free copy of what is rumoured to be the the latest book from the Prime Minister entitled "Tales of Student days" or the newly rumoured latest literary offering from Jezza Corbyn " I was a Thatcher Groupie" .

I just thought a positive rumour might be useful in this time of negative FF rumours, given the long labour and anticipated difficult birth of the FF which has gone some way passed 9 months since conception was first announced.

None of this is based on any factual information it is pure rumpor, but it makes more sense than a £/$ 3000 FF from Rocoh/Penta --- I hope ?????

Thanks for the tip off Daron, very interesting .... I'm pleased you listed the built-in flash as being part of it because I really like those, and was fairly certain that if it didn't come with one then I'd stick with the K7.
