Very nice.
What time did you have to stay up to to get the sky dark enough?

A very sharp & clear image Mike, all the shots I have take taken of the moon look smooth, you have managed to make all the craters stand out so well. I must invest in a converter sometime, although I will have to wait for a F*300.

That is as sharp a moon as I've seen Mike.

So sharp you can almost feel the rough edges. I'm fascinated by shots like this, Bearing in mind the Earth is spinning at around 1000mph just how long an exposure do you use to get a picture this crisp?

You must be blind, slightly to the left of the large central crater if you zoom in you can see the Blads tooI can almost see the flag

Its quite easy to get 1/500+ shutter speeds on a clear night

Cheers for the comments .. looks rather good on the Fickr VIEW ON BLACK (incase anyone missed the link under the image).
Settings are as follows:
Camera: Pentax K20D
Lens: smc Pentax F* 300mm f4.5 and Pentax AF 1.7x teleconverter.
Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 500 mm
ISO Speed: 160
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
And I would guess at a 60% crop probably.
I tried last night with the A* 300mm f2.8, 2X-L and AF 1.7X teleconverters giving 1000mm but to be honest this one is sharper so shows sometimes its best to crop .. and size isn't everything (or so I keep telling myself anyway).
