Monthly Competition #17 - TREE Competition

Already an image taken on 14th October has been entered in the November comp, though it needs the exif viewing on the actual photo rather than through the forum exif reader as with that the 'Date Taken' field appears blank. I also seem to recall that photos taken before the competition was announced were also ineligible, or so I was told when the competition rules were being discussed. I appreciate it's just a small point but it would be helpful if we all kept to the same rules.

Images should be shot in the month of the competition. The whole idea is that we shoot something after knowing what the competition is, so I take your point on that.

From next month we'll make sure that point is emphasised as it may not have been sufficiently clear. The monthly competition is about setting a brief and then shooting it.

It should be very straightforward really.

I've checked the second shot and assume it was shot 4th November 2013 and that in the place of origin the US order of the date is the norm.

Highland exif shows: 2013-11-01 14:45:29 (date on forum exif reader matches)
Magical Forest shows: 2013-10-14 22:27:05 using FXif in Firefox, but blank in the forum exif reader.

Main Competition
Please only upload photos taken with Pentax cameras.

TREES Competition:
Basic rules: Pentax cameras only, images must be shot in November 2013

Should this be tweaked to include RICOH ?

We know that this includes the Samsung DSLR Pentax-made cameras and the Ricoh GR, does it need restating?

If in doubt, all anyone has to do is ask. The Samsung connection will eventually fade away I guess, but those who already have those cameras and are on here will know they are welcome.

Likewise, any GR users who have found their way to Pentax User should also feel welcome and know they are included.

We want to include, not exclude, but the statement is there for those who don't realise they can't use other marques. But why would you join PU to use an Olympus camera, for example? You'd join Olympus User, and I for one wouldn't use a Pentax to enter an Olympus competition!

The weekly LEGS competition doesn't even say that! Looks like anything goes.

John, there's a catch-all statement that covers all competitions. Which you've quoted above.

There a very few people who post images that get removed, but those from other marques do get removed when spotted.

Having said that, image removed today that was shot in October.

There is a nice Autumn Scene from 2008.

I have just removed an image that was the right month, but sadly the wrong year.

Is it possible to have the rules set out next to the "enter Competition" button. People might, just might, check the before pressing!!

It's in big friendly letters at the top of the button and again in the actual description of the competition.

The number of removed entries has fallen dramatically, but the first rule of a competition is of course to read the rules. If we don't then we probably won't do well.
