I must admit I was a bit upset when the 1.4X SDM Converter dissappeared from the lens roadmap.
I know the DA Super Telephoto appeared at the same time, however, if this is going to be a 400mm F5.6, as a few people are guessing, I'd still rather have the 1.4x converter to go with my DA*300mm which would give me a 420mm F5.6 lens at a cheaper price.

Yes, I would tend to agree with you Steve, or even a 2.0x converter?

Maybe this is the reason the 1.4x converter disappeared when the super tele appeared on the roadmap I'd still rather have the 1.4x converter to go with my DA*300mm which would give me a 420mm F5.6 lens at a cheaper price.

In my experience 1.4x/1.7x is about the right compromise with a teleconverter, anything more seems the effect IQ just too much.

I have owned 4 Pentax cameras, and the " Body Cap" is as John says a transit cap!
It keeps the crap out of new cameras until the new purchaser, buys the camera and fits a lens onto it.
I hope I'm not missing something here, but it is only a kind of plug after all, and to the best of my knowledge, they are all the same either in black or white plastic, and fit the Pentax range!

Peter.
Would that be dirt rather than---? I am well aware what it is for. My point is that it is a little disappointing that you do not get a proper body cap. If I have only my 150-500 I would not carry it in a bag mounted on a camera. I think another unfortunate forum member recently ratified this policy. I for one need a proper body cap in that case.Oggy wrote:
I wasn't able to find a proper body cap new. In the end, the cap from 1.4x TC I bought is now in service and the TC has the Pringles lid.
I notice that SRS do now have K mount body caps, but they are also selling the white ones as body caps.
Just my own opinion, but having bought Pentax'es flagship body as it was at the time, somehow the expression "Hap'orth of tar" came to mind.

It's like buying a top of the range car and finding there is a blanking panel where the glove box should. After all - if you need a glove box you can always buy one.
Realistically, the production costs of a proper body cap is going to be pence.
