Missing EXIF data

This was my entry for last weeks competition https://www.pentaxuser.com/images/comment_pictures/7386/7386_1432549481.jpg[/img]]link

If you view the EXIF data you will see both Camera Make and Model are blank. Yet when I check with PhotoMe and Lightroom they both show Pentax and K5-lls.

I've also had a similar problem trying to upload images to the Pentax Photo Gallery, were the error message comes up "not a Pentax camera" but the EXif data confirms it was taken with a Pentax.

What am I doing wrong?

My edit software appears to lose EXIF data too Barrie as with some of the photos on my gallery and entry for this month's competition. Any thoughts would be welcome.

There are problems with the way the site displays some EXIF data, but the solution is apparently quite complex. IT are aware of it.

Thanks John.
It sounds as if the Pentax Photo Gallery may be a separate issue then.

Pentax Photo Gallery is not connected to Pentax User, so it is indeed a separate issue. Only they can answer for PPG.

I'm aware of that John, but there was a common denominator in me and the editing software.

So if anyone else has had a problem with PPG, I'd would be glad to here about it

Hi Tom, Yes Lightroom 6 and Elements 13
tomkeet

Guessed you were using Lightroom 6.
You might find this link useful to both problems - link
Lightroom 6 inserts more metadata info than Lightroom 5 so the websites are not reading the correct field!!
Email also sent.

Tom

It's probably not this site. Adobe own you and can do whatever they like
Looks like they have stripped out the MAKER INFO and put in at least 500 lines
of their own mush

They've even removed the 'shutter count'

Write to them very nicely and ask them if you can have your camera back

Thought that might happen as it was my report to Pentaxuser
This reply from PPG might be useful -

"Thank you for sending more details about your issue. We were able to come up with a solution for you. Lightroom 6 files contains more metadata info than Lightroom 5 files. When you upload Lightroom 6 jpg, the website is not reading the correct field. The solution is to modify the Exif data before you upload the image. We installed a software from the app store named **Photo Meta Edit ($3.99) on our mac. If you use PC, I'm sure there are software you may use for editing exif data. Open the file in Photo Meta Edit, look for the line with the tag name "Orientation". Right click on that line and choose "delete". Then, save the file. You should be able to upload your image after that. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Thank you for using pentaxphotogallery.com. "
