WG-1 white screen

I've got at WG-1 GPS and it won't turn on with the battery door closed, however if open the battery door it will turn on but the screen is white.

I've checked the battery in a friends camera and it's fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Update:

I've had a bit more of a test. It seems to be just doing the white screen regardless of the position of the battery door.

It turns on does a beep but the screen is all white.
