I'm posting this here as I'm aiming at those who are most interested in the MEF.

A few months ago I set out to acquire a working MEF & 35-70 AF lens combination. It took a bit of searching and buying, but I eventually got hold of a working body and a working lens. Unfortunately it has left me with a small problem in the form of a spare, working 35-70 AF lens (and not the recent one on ebay)

Whilst I'm happy to keep it, it deserves more than sitting on a shelf gathering dust, so I'm looking for a good home for it. I'm not in a rush and don't want to ebay it, but I am interested in knowing how much it is worth. Any suggestions?

I would consider swapping it for a non-working example and cash adjustment.

Regards,

John.

I tried to buy an AF f2.8 35-70 from a seller on Bumtree - paid £40 for it and got nothing in return. Grrrrr. I am too trusting - lesson learned.

Last week I just bought one on ebay to attach to my ME F, at a tad under £45 I thought I did quite well. It arrived yesterday, looks good, but although the AF motor works, it just clicks and doesn't turn the focus.
It wasn't advertised as defective so I'll be getting back to the seller to re-negotiate.

Wish I had seen johnha's post above before going to ebay!

Seems that I am doomed to an eternity of manual focus on the ME-F.

I was lucky, my copy was cheap and works well, in fact I ran a film through the setup this week.

When developed I'll try and post an image or two.

Keep looking ronniemac, they are out there.

I've still got my spare one, although I paid £100+ for it and I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Seeing the AF drive the split-image to 'spot-on' focus is interesting but not something you'd want to endure on a regular basis.

A local market trader tried to sell me the MEF/AF 35-75 combination last week. I think he wanted 45 pounds. They looked in reasonable condition but everything is sold as seen so I declined.

I'm still looking for a working 35-70 rather than the display item I have at the moment...

Oh well...

Well if you are interested I can check out the combo on offer on the market tomorrow. I am happy to purchase and sell on at cost plus postage, but as per my previous post there would be no guarantees.

Hi Steve,

only just noticed this post. Having ended up with one AF35-70 as an ornament I'd rather not have a second. Shame it isn't nearer, I could turn up with my ME-F and some batteries and try it out!

Many thanks anyway, Kris.

I remember when it first came out, I could not believe a lens could focus itself, those days seem like an eternity ago

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but as the image can no longer be seen since I left flickr, I thought I would re-post it with the link to ipernity. Shame I cannot just edit my older posts to update the links. Hey ho...

Pentax ME-F par Kris Lockyear, on ipernity

By the way, since getting the original post I now have a working copy of the lens, but not the lens hood!

Best wishes, Kris.

You can just upload your image into the forum and then you don't need to maintain it.
Best regards, John
