a 13 year old with a K10D? eh by gum! when I were your age I had to make do with an old MV!
seriously though very nice shooting, this is the second time I've seen someone putting a 50mm backwards on the front of another lens for macro use recently. I've used the 50 reversed on its own before now but this never occured to me before. I'll have to give it a go.
Where did you get the adaptor ring?

Tom, I'm jealous!
That's a superb pic, most definitely wish I'd taken it myself.
Welcome to the board, please post more of your macro work (or anything else you produce ).

Tom,
thanks for psting your pic and welcome to the forum. Your pic has rekindled a project that I put away a while ago, that is a ringflash mount to fit a reversed K mount lens.
Quite simply, I've taken the K mount from an old manual extension tube and removed the glass from a 58mm skylight filter. All I need to do now is 'glue' them together.
I'll try and post some pics here.
You've certainly got a good magnification with your combination of lenses. Unless of course you found a three foot tall ant. Sorry, 1 Metre tall. They probably don't do feet and inches in schools any more.
I'm Peter and I'm 18. Shame my body's 58

Stunning magnification..
I now have to get one of those converter ring thingies.. the best I've got is 5x mag.. nothing like as close..
Keep 'em coming. I can look at macro all day.
Cheers

Tom; keep up those ANTics and you''ll make and excelANT photographer, BTW did you ANTicipate the depth of field or was the resulting image an ANTiclimax.
Guys; is this is typical of teenagers or what?, they get hold of new technology and show us old fossils how its really done!
PS; I bet the ANT was dead
PPS; I bet Tom's a wimp really and doesn't like creepy crawlies.
PPPS; I bet Tom got a GIRL to take the picture for him.
PPPPS: I bet Tom got his MUMMY to kill the ANT first.
PPPPPS; I think Tom should be banned form this forum.
PPPPPPS; I am insanely jealous of this shot.....does it show?

What a shot - anybody got a dead ANT I can borrow to try this out on (I'll return it, Honest)
On the subject of macro here's a trick I use when out on walks to take pics of insects:-
Attach a set of bellows and a 100-300zoom lens
Expand bellows by about 1 inch and get 5 - 10 feet from the subject
Turn or pull the zoom until in fucus
Take the shot
Expanding or contracting the bellows changes distance and magnification.
You can get a picture of a bee this way (filling the frame) without getting stung. The same thing with a macro lens I have to be within about a foot.
Anybody else tried this :
