k10d raw button

hello peeps, just registered to the site after buying the k10d a few days ago.

I'm a bit dissapointed with the raw button, I want to press the button and change to DNG raw files, no additional jpeg. But i can't seem to do this, it keeps on putting a jpeg there.

I thought I'd get around this by changing the menu to shoot raw all the time and and changing to jpeg on pressing the raw button, sort of reversing the action, but this won't stick either.

Any advice please?

Check page 122 of the manual. If you want the RAW + button settings to stick, you need to go to the [C Custom Setting] Menu and set [One-touch RAW+JPEG]

Thanks for the swift reply Tim, but I want either raw dng only or jpeg only on the raw button.

If I set the 'base' mode as jpg via the menu, then pressing the raw button sets up RAW+ (jpg).

If I set the 'base' mode as raw then RAW button gives RAW+ again.

'base' mode set as RAW+ with raw button activation does nothing, RAW+ is the only setting.

It seems i can't have either jpeg or raw, I must have RAW+(jpeg) or jpeg.

The RAW button does the following:

1. If you're shooting RAW (PEF or DNG), it adds JPEG (whichever quality).
2. If you're shooting JPEG (whichever quality), it adds RAW (PEF or DNG).

The setting in the custom functions is to determine whether it reverts after one shot, or only when the button is activated again.

So no matter how you have your camera set up, when you push the button, you get RAW and JPEG.

Now maybe the programmers are reading this and will include a function in the next firmware's custom settings to opt for RAW only when this button is pressed. That would be nice.
