Lumsdale

I went for a walk here this afternoon... its a series of little waterfalls in a valley called Lumsdale a short distance from the secondary school I went to. The valley is not well known, despite being on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales and boasting the most impressive cascades I've come across in this part of the world. There are also several fascinating ruined mills.

Would be a good place for a future Pentax User meet I reckon!

Could really have done with a tripod to allow me to shoot in a lower ISO and with a smaller aperture. K200D with a Tokina 17mm at 400ISO:

Some really nice shots. I especially like the first one, your feel as though you are looking out onto a hidden world.

Looking at the first one I'm waiting for a hobbit to appear. It so looks like a scene from lord of the rings. It's a lovely shot.

Thanks. The only skinny creatures or hobbits you're likely to encounter there wear shell suits and come from the nearby estate.

Skinny? Are you sure? If so, there must be something in the Lumsdale water.

I forget to mention that I liked these a lot; 1 and 3 especially. Crisp, clean and lovely. You can almost smell the damp earth.

Much appreciated, George. There's one more image, and crit is welcome on the framing as well as the shot itself. I used to be vehemently against frames, but I'm starting to come round to them:

Well, I tried to make it bigger but unfortunately I have cocked up the border! It was supposed to be like this: link
