Somehow I slipped off the notifications (must have been work getting in the way of things). Now I see that you got your kit back. I'm relieved (as it was partly me to blame ) and happy for you. Now you can go out and get some long exposures in!

Car should be OK.
My diesel currently has a mixture of diesel, petrol, used vegetable oil and fresh vegetable oil in it and it runs a treat.
Putting diesel into a petrol car....now there's a whole heap of trouble

No, petrol will kill a modern diesel stone dead, wreck the finely machined pump and injectors and cause all sorts of havoc with the combustion chambers.
Diesel is a lubricant, petrol isn't.
Anyway the Passat is still stuck in town. I'm hopeful that it conked out before any mechanical damage was done. It only had £20 worth of petrol put into an empty tank so should be easy enough to drain and clean the filters etc.. I'm not going to risk diluting with diesel by filling up.

For what it's worth not all pumps survive the use of vegetable oil - I ran my Land Rover on Vege oil for a while and then the supermarkets seemed to catch on and put the price of larger oil containers up.
The smell was fun and it ran well but you need to be sure your pump can take it.

Fair point Mike, I should have mentioned that. For what it's worth not all pumps survive the use of vegetable oil - I ran my Land Rover on Vege oil for a while and then the supermarkets seemed to catch on and put the price of larger oil containers up.

Hadn't realised that. I remeber petrol used to be added in the winter as diesel turned to jelly.

I couldn't face the hassle of getting the oil in bulk. I know some people arranged catering supplies delivery but it all seemed hard work and then you had to be careful that they hadn't put some additive in. I lost interest Fair point Mike, I should have mentioned that.

4 years though should equal a good saving.
