I can't imagine how anyone changing camera marque could lead to controversy and banning from anywhere, so when I have time I shall be intrigued to find out.

I found it quite depressing that some people don't seem to be able to distinguish between "good" and "to their taste".

I've had quite a good look through Ben's recently posted galleries, and I'm not yet sure whether I like the work or not. But there's no doubting the quality of it, and the fact that it kicks off something of a storm of controversy is IMHO, a very positive point in its favour.

I think those complaining about Bens work are being a bit odd to be honist. I must admit that it is not to my taste, but that's no surprise since I'm mainly a landscape, wildlife and action kind of guy. There's no denying the quality of Bens work and that the level of skill being employed is lightyears beyond anything I could ever hope to attain.

If Ben had taken these photographs with a Cannon, would he be hailed as the 8th Wonder of the World on his old forum?

It's fine to like or dislike controversial and possibly disturbing images - I believe this used to be called art, and meant to provoke.

But to claim that the showing of these images is self promoting, comercial and therefore in violation of "club rules"? Rules that can be trotted out whenever the powers that be - the infamous "they" - get uncomfortable?

I can't say that I particularly like many of the images, it's not a style that I would choose to emulate but I do appreciate them and why the hell should anyone really care what make of camera was used?

Here's a thought - no one knows, remembers or cares, what make of brushes or brands of paint Michaelanglo used! In the end its just the results that count.

Do you think there are forums somewhere in cyperspace that rate one set of paints vs another? Canvas X beats Canvas Y...

I'm quite certain that there are a set of anoraks* like us that worry about such things...
