finally booked for New England

Well folks our dreams of visiting New England in the Fall are about to come to fruition, I got confirmation of our booking today and the house sitter sorted, for the guys and gals who replied to my earlier post our itinery is listed below, links to photographic dealers along the route would be a godsend (especially if they stock Pentax or Pentax fit gear This has cost us a small fortune so all you New England users, please stick the leaves back on the trees if they drop too early if the fall is late then you'll have to get the spray cans out

Itinery;
3 nights in Boston,Massachusetts (were gonna find out the American version of what happened )
Pick up rental car, damm it'll be automatic
3 nights In Jackson, New Hampshire
3 nights in Stowe, Vermont
1 night in Sturbridge, Massachusetts
3 nights in Sandwich, Massachusetts
I night flying back to UK

Were also going to try and nip across the borders into Maine and Conneticuit and pass through Rhode Island so we can say we did it all

Allready got the Kancamagus highway listed as a must, all suggestions welcome.

PS; getting old and spending your kids inheritance is wonderfull

Freedom Trail tour in Boston is quite interesting. The information we got on the tour didn't paint the brits in such a bad light.

Any shopping you do should be done in New Hampshire -no sales tax!!!!
The roads in New England are lovely, and heve a very English feel to them, they even have roundabouts in New England! Once away from Greater Boston driving is very relaxed. Or at least it was in August, in leaf peeping time it could be all to like English roads and jam packed of course. The automatic just makes it even more relaxed.
I hope to go back there one day, my week in August wasn't enough.
Not sure that you need 3 nights in Boston to be honest but that's my own query.

Sam Adams isn't bad but Otter Creek is a better brew. If you drive south to Waterbury, you can take a tour of the Ben & Jerry's Ice cream plant. It's pretty cool. If you cross the interstate and head south on route 100 the leaves are amazing.There are some other cool places in Vermont that would be great day trips for you too.

It's actually not that bad.....Budweiser, Coors and Miller are battery acid in comparison...

Yes, it's not brilliant... New England has a lot of excellent microbreweries....The London Pride I had yesterday afternoon was rather better....and miles better than the Heineken biertje I had last night, that was pretty vile

Try Smutty Nose brewery in New England. We liked Brown Dog Ale from them. Much better than Sam Adams, or any mass of produced the gnats-pee the Americans call beer.

@ Pwynnej Shame on you drinking Heineken! So many better beers available in Holland!

It was all that was being served in Bad Habits in Leiden

After two pints of Fuller's London Pride at the North End pub, I would agree with you that there are better beers in Holland, ie English, German and Belgian.
