Cruising? Maybe, but I remember seeing the near vertical climb, the sheer noise and then rolling off the top of it. Wonderful aeroplane.

Great photos. I'm lucky enough to live close to Doncaster airport and was able to see Vulcan XH558 on it's last few flights in 2015. This included having a pub lunch at Blaxton at the end of the runway when on one of it's final flights the Vulcan did several low level runs and tight turns over the pub before coming into land. Regrettably I didn't have a camera with me but was just able to stand and admire the display the air crew put on.

Paul, those two in flight shots were of that plane on its last flight which must have been coming from or going to Doncaster at the time. I remember having a 50mm lens on at the time when it suddenly appeared, and I was desperately trying to attach a telephoto which being all fingers and thumbs it stubbornly refused to engage at first, but managed just in time.

It was probably the same day Rob I shot the below, a Sunday 14th October @ 14:33 as XH558 flew low over Staverton Airport nr Gloucester as Messers Dowty which are based on the edge of Staverton made the landing gear.

This was one of the 2 last flights all out of and rtn Donnie, a northern route and a southern route, on the flight I caught her, she'd been to Bristol / Clifton suspension bridge and Cardiff and plenty of other places IIRC

I cycled over to the airport and stood on the bike to get a slightly higher vantage point, the police were moving on all cars as they were blocking the main road from Chelt to Glos

The same 4 x Olympus engines powered Concorde with reheat which the Vulcan didn't have
