Lightroom is a very sophisticated and capable piece of software, you need to learn how to use it. You have a 30 day trial, not 30 minutes. Give it, and yourself, a chance.
Information like this is exactly why people don't give Lightroom a chance.

Library mode is exactly that library mode, this is where you store your images and call them up etc...
To work on them you click on the develop module which is top right and then work your way down the right hand column of options until you are happy with your photo.
The options 'map, book, slideshow, print & web' can be ignored for now.
Just use library to sort out your images on your computer and develop to work on them.
For imaging software it is very logically laid out.
