Well the wishlist just got shorter, bought a DA 15mm Ltd on Ebay for £340, boxed mint. Not sure what the going price is, but couldn't resist the temptation, only the FA 31 Ltd left on the list now. Can't wait to try the 15mm Ltd and I've got three weeks holiday due

How in the name of all that's holy did you manage that?

Saw the listing this morning, Buy it Now £370 and was tempted. When I went for another look the price had dropped to £340 Couldn't believe my luck, just couldn't resist at that price, I've been after one forever!

OMG, that's crazy! Do you mean to say you have the 21, 35, 40, 43, 70 and 77 already? Amazing!

I'm here to tell you, the wishlist NEVER get's shorter. That's the thing with LBA. My recent purchase, an M series 200mm f4, hadn't even hit the mailbox when I was searching ebay yet again...

There's definitely some truth in that, but I've got to the stage of selling a lens if I buy a new one. So up on Ebay soon with a K 300m f/4 mint, cased, c/w 77mm Hoya HMC Sky 1b alomg with my 645 kit that I never use these days. The only other lens I desire is the FA 31mm Ltd (at the moment) but I can't justify the cost when I already have the FA 28/2.8 and FA 35/2

I have recently adopted this policy of selling a lens every time I buy a new one. It does not really save money of course. It rationalises buying better (i.e.more expensive) lenses. LBA is truly incurable.

Totally agree, it also keeps my other half from complaining too loudly

I do the same but have also done one other thing. Write a list of all the lenses you own - which in my case was bad enough and spurred me to think that the collection was getting ridiculous.

Then think through all the near-duplications and the pro's and con's of each one. As people looking at classifieds may have noticed, I've been selling rather more than I buy as a result, even though I have sold some excellent lenses... I bought them because I knew they were excellent, rather than because I was going to regularly put them to good use. In which case there seemed little point in keeping them. I'm now getting down to a collection of lenses that I know I would miss if I sold any of them. I think there's only one or two more that I might sell, then I'm going to call it a day and stick with what's left.

For now!

I like the "For now!". I keep telling myself I do not really need any more lenses but I even find I am tempted by the Classified Adverts to buy lenses I have already sold! I have resisted so far.

Congratulations on your new lens. I hope you really enjoy it.

Except for a lens Pentax don't (yet?) make I have no wish list. I am cured of LBA, and happy with my small collection.

What a terrible admission .

The missing lens? Something long - longer than 300.
Yes I have the Bigma but a long Pentax would be nice. Maybe a 250-400 F4?? If I can carry the Bigma I can carry that.

Now I'm off for some weight lifting .

Thanks Gwyn

I have two lists of lenses, one contains them all from K series onwards, the other is the current kit (the ones I use) I have a real problem selling, but they'll all probably go at some point down to just the ones I use

I think I'm almost cured of LBA but would be seriously tempted by something longer than 300mm from Pentax.

John

I think I've now assembled a collection of all the good, cheap/readily available Pentax lenses. I still check ebay often in case someone lists an ME with a 50mm f1.4 for £30 or similar...

I bought my first non-Pentax lens last week, a Tokina PK-A fit 28mm f2.8. It had a jammed focussing mechanism due to a bang on the nose, but the glass seems mint and I've managed to pop the mechanism back into its groove, so it now works perfectly. I've yet to test it out properly but a couple of brief trials produced some decent results, considering that it was a cheap lens to begin with and has had a bit of a rough life. Nothing like as good as the M 28mm f3.5 but not bad for £7!

Some might have thought I was a victim of LBA, but I haven't bought any new glass in over a year. Truth is I was just trying to find what I liked, to be exactingly high standards and sometimes middling budget. I simply do not find the need to try tons of second-rate glass. Though if I had infinite income and time I can see how it would be a fun pastime in itself.
