And this good

ISO51200 shot with Post Pro.
The chap that did the processing on that picture should be offered a job with Pentax because I couldn't get results anywhere nears as good at ISO 51200.
Haha, agreed Based on my normal PP that image is approximately how one of my ISO3200 shots might look! It's nice to know that level of noise is possible at 51200, but damned if I know how to do it.

Edit: I changed my mind, perhaps ISO6400 is closer. I still don't get how he retained so much detail at 51200 though.

Don't think it's OS is it?

By all accounts the older version is sharper than the new HSM (if you can find a good one).

Welcome back!

Pretty sure you'll love the K-5 once you get used to the Pentax quirks, it's one cracking little body, and with the WR maybe you should look at the 16-50 & 50-135 that Mike already suggested for a completely weather sealed kit. I'm sure you could find some use for that!

right i think i might get

K7
16-50mm
50-135mm

i will upgrade the camera at a later date when the price has come down slightly and i can afford the extra 300 quid

its either that or just get the k5 and one lens

Hi, you 'jumped' before I joined. Congrats, happy new year, new system, new baby...

Edit - I can also vouch for the 50-135. It's the one zoom I'll keep.

Ahhh, what's £300 between friends

If you don't need the faster AF, better dynamic range, more fps, 1080p video then the K-7 is the way to go. I think it's a great camera personally and good up to ISO 1600

If you plan to take lots of pictures of your child, then a faster focus is definitely a plus, especially as kids grow up... And if many of those pictures are taken indoors high iso is also great. With my k20d I can see the limitations ....

That would point to a k5. How about a k5 with a 50-135 (great for portraits) and something like the Tamron 17-50 2.8. Not weather sealed, but it seems to have a good reputation on this forum. Or a pentax 16-45, if I am not wrong it's 230 quid at SRS.

Welcome back Feeb.

I recall the reasons you switched from P to N. Does your return to P mean that your photography business is on hold/ended?

Hi Peter

i am a full-time mum now m'dear, though i would like the kit to honour the odd professional job, the need to have an all singing, all dancing full frame camera has changed to a need for something tactile and weather resistant and travellable

Have just spoken to the husband, he thinks the only option is to get a K5 with one awesome lens, and to follow with another lens in a few weeks time

so i think i will be buying the K5 with 50-135mm followed by a 16-50 at the end of the month (when hubby gets paid, i am what you would call a kept woman these days!!!)

Good luck with your new family member and I'm sure you'll enjoy the K-5. FWIW, my lens recommendation would be the DA* 60-250mm 1:4, but it is expensive and probably doesn't qualify on weight grounds.

The K-5 with the DA 50-135mm should be a good enough combo for now.
