For info, the Kenko has a twin in the Tamron-F 1.4x Pz-AF MC4. Besides autofocussing even with SDM, they pass the aperture setting through to the camera. With these the aperture setting is passed through unaltered unlike the Pentax 1.7x AF converter which adjusts the aperture info.
Generally teleconverters work better with standard to telephoto lenses and less well with wide angle lenses. The 1.4/1.5x converters only loose a stop so having good light isn't usually too much of an issue.

I use a Kenko 1.4X from time to time.
It sits in a pocket comfortably and supliments my 18-250 lens when neede. Just make sure you have good light for longer lengths.

Oh dear I am afraid not. You see, i went through the same pain you are going through. In the end I searched Pentaforum for one and put an alert on for when one showed up. I got one this way from Oz only £110 only about 6 months ago.

I don't recognise the name of the manufacturer - It's not the Pentax made 1.7x is it?
