Realised my mistake with regard to the lense aperture last night and thought that i had amended my comment from f2.8 to f4.
Thanks all again for comments.

This is an interesting debate. Smeggypants wrote:

But prior to the K5, when there were cameras out there that already had very good high ISO performance you did without it. That to me, as a photographer, makes no sense at all . I don't see reporting a huge poerformance difference as putting the previous camera down.
In terms of 'making sense' as a photographer, you are quite correct in that I 'did without' a camera with the sensor as good as the K-5s. But, I was always dreaming of something with better high ISO performance. So it doesn't make any sense to me to carry on using a K10D/K20D when there's a higher ISO performance model released and I can find the funds to aquire a couple.
I would like even better High ISO performance. I want ISO51200 to have the noise performance of the K-5s ISO800. I'm doing without that now. When the K-3, or more likely K-1, arrives with much superior ISO performance I shall endeavourer to upgrade.
I simply don't understand why you say my camera upgrading ethos 'makes no sense'

My personal concern about upgrading would be that Pentax tend to upgrade the sensor with one model, and the body with the next. The same pattern was repeated for K10 to K20, K20 to K7, K7 to K5. So the K3 (or whatever) will probably offer some body improvements when it comes out. (And there is still room for further AF improvement). At that point I could go with the K3, or if the improvements don't do it for me, possibly grab an end of line K5 at rock bottom prices. I'm as tempted as anyone to keep chasing the top model, but at some point I need to keep some sense of discipline and perspective - and control over the wallet.
