You mean the one I had to drive across half of the town to test it and get it for you from the seller? Why should I forget you know about them .. you even posted one of the lenses.
I guess I should be lucky that I didn't end up in a situation similar to the 12-24mm Sammies or else it would have been dejas-vous for me .
But I know you are nice chap, you wouldn't throw remarks like the ones I read a few days ago here coming from someone who brought back the subject

I'm also finding the K7 images not as punchy or sharp as I expected. I have come from a Fuji 9600 which had much higher clarity and sharper punchy images. Probably over vibrant.
I have played with the in camera sharpness settings and find only slight improvement, however I have selected the in camera VIBRANT setting. This has transformed the images they are sharper and much easier on the eye. The default BRIGHT setting is what gives images a washed out tone. In addition I have almost stopped using the AWB altogether as this gave some of my images colour cast which softened the images too much. I have compared RAW and JPEG images with these settings. When opening both types up in Photoshop Elements they are both very acceptable. The RAW images are slightly better quality but straight from the camera not much to choose between. I am interested to see what I can do with the RAW files in Photoshop if I ever get time.

Am loving my new k7, but I did notice that the pictures aren't as contrasty or maybe not as sharp as what I had achieved on k2000? I know the default setting is on "bright", but is there adjustments you K7 owners make to sharpness and contrast? Or is this a preferable way, and make any adjustments on the computer later? Thanks for any opinions on this.

In my humble experience and please do take this with a pinch of salt as my expertise are nowhere near as good as some members here, but I can tell you with a fair bit of certainty that if you develop a bit more your processing skills you will notice a huge difference in your final results. I am by no means implying that you are not good at it or not experienced enough, all I am trying to say is that each camera, each lens each exposure requires specific input from the user. Work on it and you will be surprised with the results.
What you just described is very typical of what most times we read around the forums and 90% of the times things get sorted out based on the PP knowledge.
I wouldn't be surprised that the OP might have found the optimum processing tweaks and then ended up happy with the K7. Just a shame he hasn't been back to update us on it.
But it might be even for a personal reason and I hope he is well and enjoying his photography and his absence is purely unrelated

The K-7 sensor is not the best in the world by a long shot but it can still produce good results if you are prepared to do the post production work.Am loving my new k7, but I did notice that the pictures aren't as contrasty or maybe not as sharp as what I had achieved on k2000? I shoot in RAW & process as a PEF file before saving as a jpg. This allows me to get the maximum out of my image editing.
As a matter of interest I attended a dance rehearsal on the weekend shooting some in PEF before shooting in jpg on standard sharpness, contrast etc. I was overwhelmingly disappointed with the jpg's - wish I had shot all in RAW. Big mistake - I won't do that again.
The "Process Multiple Files" conversion from PEF to jpg in Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4 does an excellent job of mass conversion with pleasing results.

Any chance of posting one of those jpg's? The average Pentax user is probably getting on a bit in years so I was thinking .. As the forum is by it's nature, a meeting place for people to discuss Pentax cameras without actually leaving the home, how many of the thousands of member accounts that are dormant have died without our knowledge. Quite a few I bet and probably some with very high post counts.

It happens Mike. And not just for oldies. I run a forum ( see signature ). One of my members died of bowel cancer and he was only 29 years old. I only knew this because another member I knew personally was a friend of his. Actually I was wondering the other day ...

Peeps often distinguish between 'online' and 'real life', but in reality they are on and the same.

It's all about art IMO. if you see something that excites you in a pic, even if it's wrongly exposed of OOF you can sometimes rescue it and portray a good vibe with PP. For example if wrong exposure, colour balance, OOF etc is getting in the way just turn it into B&W, up the contrast and make an abstract.

I guess if someone wants to unload some problem they might do that and then, having satisfied the need, they don't reappear. That's fair enough, all part of the service!
I'm not referring to any individual when I say that by the way!
But blame Mike-P for it. He started. Had to resuscitate the old dormant thread
