K7 as a web cam

I want to use my K7 as a live web cam on a laptop running VIsta. The laptop has an integral webcam but I think the k7 may do a better job - certainly more flexible. I have used the USB connector and can access files direct. Control Panel recognises the hardware but I can't get live pics. There does not appear to be an option to select source for live pics. Any suggestions?

None of my Pentax d-slrs (ds2, k10) have that functionality.

Now the canon g series compacts do this.... and do it well.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Hmm. Although it might be possible I don't know if it would cause your sensor to wear out too quickly?

I'm more worried about the internet connection, what are you're upload speeds???
I doubt you can stream real time HD with a normal connection.

Some Fuji cameras could double as webcams. This site has some free software. For anyone using BT he has a program to monitor DL speeds which is very good.

Sledge hammer solution to crack a wlanut problem I think. I wouldn't bother. Go buy a Logitech web cam for not much money rather than tie up an expensive DSLR + lens.

Seems a terrible waste of the K7 to use it as a webcam.
