Lots of people here have experience and knowledge on this subject.
If you search the forum for 'sensor cleaning', you'll find quite a lot of threads discussing it.
The options for sensors mostly boil down to:
- Arctic Butterfly
- Pentax cleaning kit
- Wet (swab/solution) kits
Cleaning the mirror at all seems to be an extremely risky business.

It depends on the type off dirt which one to get.
For dust and other foreign objects Arctic Butterfly or the Pentax cleaning kit. A blower would also do the trick but not a fan off those because I only blow the dust to somewhere else in the body.... Some can use them though to good effect so must be me maybe
For smears and other liquid/greasy dirt you need wet kits.

I have used the Eclipse cleaning fluid and Sensor Swabs with excellent results in my cameras. The new cleaning fluid is even compatible with both CCD snd CMOS sensors.

The official Pentax 'lollipop' recently removed an annoying artefact from my sensor. After cleaning it was gone, with a test shot of a blue sky at f20 showing one little spot.
As with most, if not all cleaning products, I believe that the lollipop is way over priced; then again last year I paid £35 to get my then K100D cleaned in a camera shop, total waste of money that was.

I've an artic butterfly but that's still going strong after more then a year so that one already paid himself back.

The Arctic Butterfly didn't touch it, and I had to resort to a wet clean.
I can only assume I was particularly unlucky when changing lenses outside at some point.

Davex to really answer you question now.
The air on it's own is already moist and who knows what floats around besides water.
I also already had an hair on my sensor, that's covered with grease and when you clean with a dirty brush or something like that it's quite easy to make your sensor dirty.

I use a noname rocket blower.
I used Elipse and pec pads a few times but the fluid was worth more than gold.
Now I use the Lenspen sensorklear if stuff wont blow off.
Seems to work fine and its cheap

I have seen kits for cleaning sensors/mirrors advertised in photographic magazines.
Does anyone here have any experience or knowledge of any of these please?
