K5 whinge

Can anyone explain why Pentax moved the green button on the K5/K7 to the rear of the camera, all the other models have them on the top, next to the shutter button, which I think is the logical positon for it.
Auto110,MZ-30, K5, loads of Black Tubes with Glass in.

Perhaps a handful of people whinged about it, so they thought OK why not. The silent majority might have been quite happy as it was.

This is what it's always difficult to know. Personally, I don't use the green button so it ain't an issue for me, but I know many people do.

I sometimes find it useful to one press (green) override manual with auto metering while eye to view finder. On top would be fiddly in this case.

I personally find th K5 the most well thought out and ergonomic camera I've ever used.

If I had a whinge it would be Liveview button being right below the back AF button. Occasionally hit liveview by mistake

To make space for the other buttons

I had to get used to that new location of the green button as well; for normal use I prefer the layout on the top as it's on the K5, but for use of M lenses I prefer the the K10D's layout.

For me the two buttons near the shutter release , the EV and the Iso buttons are in an ideal location. I use them a lot. Very handy.

The green button however, i have never used yet. Two reasons:
First, it is not very prominent and not easy to find, when looking trough the viewfinder
and second, it doesn't do anything anyway, so why push it?

I presume that you dont use manual lenses at any time, if you do, the Green button is most usefull.
