High-ISO performance didn't blow us away with noise reduction deactivated -- noise was visible at a 25-percent view at ISO 12,800 and a 12.5-percent view at the ISO 25,600
OMG, noise visible at ISO 25600.

What exactly do they expect ... £3k Canon 5D MKIII it ain't

What is the world coming to? I expect NO noise at any ISO setting. Pentax are clearly slacking here. (tongue very firmly in cheek......)

What a stupid and vacuous review.

Agreed - they were quite impressed with the camera, but bent over backwards to nitpick and cast aspersions on Pentax wherever possible! And the prose couldn't have been any more dumbed down.

The manufacturer's latest swappable-lens model, the K-30, is quite a respectable beast
'Swappable-lens model'? Jeez.

Focus wasn't the fastest we've seen (the Olympus E-M5 still holds the title), but the lens adjusted accurately even in low light, especially when aided by the green illuminator.
I'm guessing they are using the camera in Live-view, CDAF. 'What's a viewfinder'?

But the comments caused me actual physical pain.

Pentax tends to trail Nikon and Canon in high ISO low light noise. Compared to snapshot artists who shoot in the midday sun, real photographers come up against dim interiors and the 2 hours surrounding sunrise and sunset on a weekly basis.
Quote:
True, they trail in ISO by about a year. This new model with ISO 25,600 will fit most people's needs.

Pentax is still in business? Who knew?

I rarely ever read engadget comments.. It's a trolls nest (not as bad as YouTube comments yet)

The sample photos look fine to me, quite fine indeed.

Hmmmm.... Pentax doesn't trail any maker of APS-C DSLRs with respect to ISO performance. According to many sources, it's the best available. You have to spend two or three times as much to find a camera with better high ISO performance. Do these people live under bridges?
