It looked fine to me, very bright and clear and the size I would expect.

From memory (I sold my k-10 a couple of years ago) I would say that the viewfinders are the same size. The K-10 gave 95% coverage while the K-5 gives 100%.

The viewfinder is bright, clear and offers an effective 100% frame coverage - so what you see is what you end up with on the photo.
The K10D offers only 95% frame coverage.
The K10D offers only 95% frame coverage.

thanks for the advice, I was only concerned that the size/magnification of the finder on the K5 was smaller than my K10.

I bought the viewfinder magnifier for my K-5, and it has definately improved the viewfinder (which I found a little darker than Canon/Nikon competition).

The K7/K5 might have 100% coverage, but do not forget that is only part of the story, the more important part is the magnification of the viewfinder and I believe I am correct in saying that although the K7/K5 has better coverage, they have lower magnification. I think the K10D/K20D & K7/K5 to all intents and purposes have virtually identical sized viewfinders.

The K10D/K20D has .95x magnification, the K-7/K-5 0.92x.
Nonetheless my experience is that the K-5 viewfinder is superior to the K20D.

You can get the M-OE53 from most Pentax Pro stockists like SRS in the UK. I use one on my K-5 to help handle some older MF lenses. Be aware that there is a tiny bit of vignetting in the extreme corners, I find it is the upper left and upper right but it may be different for others. I barely notice it now.

I believe the O-ME53 fits all Pentax Dslrs, it is really easy to fit, pull the eyecup up and off and replace with the magnified version, less than 2 min job.

There are some unoriginal viewfinders with magnification for Pentax under different names as well. KPS (I believe) and Tenpa are said to be good and I think some from this forum uses them. I haven't tried myself.

Got one from Tim last week - very good even for glass wearers

Pentax have stuck with the same size viewfinder fitting since the M series cameras and so all their accessories since then will fit all their dSLRs.
The only exception (I think) is the K1000 which began manufacture before the M series but carried on much later. It, therefore, has the older Spotmatic/K series fitting.
